Overview
The purpose of this publication is to provide an overview of the various types of hoses used in the production, transportation and storage of liquid chemicals, and their appropriate use and safe management. While the main focus is on the hoses used for the transfer of chemical products, the essential and frequently used range of service hoses for water, steam, air and nitrogen are also covered.
Product and service hoses form an integral part of transfer operations, and their choice and use must be based on assessments that cover appropriate use, safety and operational efficiency. The use of hoses is only recommended where fixed rigid piping is either not suitable or is impractical for the operation taking place.
