23rd SESSION 2003 (Resolutions 936-965)

The twenty-third session of IMO Assembly, from 24 November to 5 December 2003, adopted resolutions that included revised survey guidelines under the harmonized system of survey and certification (replacing those that were adopted by resolution A.746(18)), guidelines on places of refuge for ships in need of assistance, coverage of maritime assistance services, improved guidelines for marine portable fire extinguishers, graphical symbols for shipboard fire control plans, amendments to the principles of safe manning in resolution A.890(21) and the format and guidelines for the maintenance of the continuous synopsis record. There are also recommendations on training and certification and on operational procedures for maritime pilots other than deep-sea pilots and guidelines on ship recycling.
