The 2014 newly updated 5th edition of The Panama Cruising Guide by Eric Bauhaus is a necessity for anyone planning to sail in Panama. The over 223 highly accurate charts in this book, all surveyed by Eric with professional computer-aided surveying equipment, cannot be found anywhere else. They describe many beautiful and safe anchorages that were previously uncharted and unknown. Hundreds of colour and aerial photos, piloting instructions, complete information on the Canal, etc. Online updates can be found on sailorsnet.com. Eric's tried and tested waypoints will let you sail the beautiful but reef-infested waters of Panama, like the San Blas Islands, lush tropical rivers and other areas with safety and ease.
It felt a little bit expensive at first, but this book is literally indispensable for someone planning to cruise Panama. The amount of research and knowledge contained here is irreplaceable.
I wish all cruising guides were like this one--well-organized, pleasant to read, good information, great chartlets.
Kelsey - sadly, the sailboat I was scheduled to buy that necessitated buying this book fell through at the last minute. Your service was great and timely, the brokers and the owners of the boat I was going to buy, not so much! Anyway, the book is in the US and I am traveling back from Martinique to Mexico, where I live but hopefully someday I will need the book! Thanks!
Great!
