The governing body of the IMO, the Assembly, is composed of all IMO members. The IMO Assembly meets once every two years in regular sessions, but may also meet in an extraordinary session if necessary. The IMO Assembly reviews and records acceptable agreements between different government agencies and maritime organizations in IMO Basic Documents. Basic Documents are published by IMO in a two volume series. Resolutions are adopted by the key organizations and committees and are recorded at each assembly meeting. Resolutions are issued within official IMO meeting reports and documents relating to the relevant committee or organization. All resolutions that were a part of an assembly session are published in each IMO Resolution booklet.
